Zimbabwe Announces 15-Member Squad For T20 World Cup 2022: Craig Ervine Returns As Captain

Zimbabwe announced the 15-man squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The squad includes skipper Craig Ervine, who had been out due to injury and had missed the series against Bangladesh and India and the tour of Australia.

Craig Ervine has recovered from a hamstring injury and has been selected as team captain for the upcoming ICC tournament. Zimbabwe has been placed in Group B with Ireland, Scotland, and the two-time champion West Indies for the qualifying round.

Senior members such as Tendai Chatara, Wellington Masakadza, and Milton Shumba are also included, and Blessing Muzarabani is available once again to lead the pace attack. Chatara has recovered from a fracture to his collarbone, while Muzarabani, who went to Australia with the team but didn’t play a game there, is back fit and firing.

Masakadza and Shumba are both back after suffering injuries to their shoulder tendons and quadriceps. Tadiwanashe Marumani, Kevin Kasuza, Innocent Kaia, Victor Nyauchi, and Tanaka Chivanga have been named as reserves.

Zimbabwe will play Sri Lanka and Namibia in two warm-up matches on the 10th and 13th of October, respectively, before the start of the main tournament. Zimbabwe’s first game at the T20 World Cup 2022 will be against Ireland in Round 1 at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Tasmania.
