Shami Has Been Ruled Out of T20is with Australia Due to Covid. Umesh Will Take His Place.
Mohammed Shami will miss the India-Australia T20 series. The experienced pacer tested positive for Covid and hasn't reached Mohali for the opening T20I against Australia.
The BCCI and team management were informed when the squad arrived in Mohali on September 17. Australian team may also have arrived.
Umesh replaces Shami. Umesh's Middlesex tenure was cancelled by a quad injury.
Shami's participation in the three-match T20I series against South Africa depends on his Covid recovery.
It's an unexpected setback for Shami, he last played a T20I for India at the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE.
