T20 World Cup 2022: Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik Likely to Travel with Team India as Bumrah’s Back-Up

T20 World Cup 2022: According to several reports, India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will likely miss the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which begins in Australia next month. BCCI informed on Friday that Mohammed Siraj would replace Bumrah for the rest of the T20I series against South Africa due to Bumrah’s back injury. According to Sportstar report, Umran Malik will also travel with Team India to Perth on October 6, where the Indian team will practice before going to Brisbane for their first warm-up game on October 17.

Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stated in a statement released on Friday, “Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.”

Bumrah didn’t play in the first Twenty20 International against South Africa in Trivandrum as skipper Rohit Sharma said at the toss that the pacer was being rested due to a back strain.

Meanwhile, the news agency PTI reported on Thursday that Bumrah had suffered a serious back stress fracture that would keep him out of action for four to six months and prevent him from playing in the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back ailment, returned to the Indian side last week in Nagpur for the second Twenty20 International against Australia. However, after participating in the last two games, he again suffered from the same injury.
