IPL 2023 Auction is Scheduled to Take Place in Mid-December

The tentative date for the IPL 2023 auction has been set in an informal conversation between the BCCI’s IPL governing council and the league’s 10 franchises. According to the Cricbuzz report, the auction will take place in December of this year, with December 16 being the most likely date. It will be a mini-auction for which the venue has yet to be decided.

The IPL 2023 will likely begin in a home-and-away format during the fourth week of March. The payout for the mini-auction will be Rs 95 crore, an increase of Rs 5 crore from last year. The franchise may increase its purse by releasing players ahead of the auction or trading them.

The President of the BCCI, Sourav Ganguly, announced on Thursday, September 22, that the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) would be played in the regular home-away format. This would imply that the games would be played in 10 venues, as compared to eight locations prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there would be just four venues for the league stage of the 2022 tournament.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also mentioned that the much-anticipated Women’s Indian Premier League would take place in February next year. Sourav Ganguly spoke to the media at an event and said, “The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women’s IPL. We are expecting the Women’s Indian Premier League in February next year. “
